Sayville Ferry Terminal

By Train

Take the Montauk Branch of the Long Island Rail Road to the Sayville railroad station. The train station is just over 1 mile from Sayville Ferry Terminal with regular shuttle service provided by Colonial Taxi.

By Car from the West

Take Southern State Parkway to Hecksher State Parkway. Continue on Hecksher State Parkway until Sunrise Highway - Route 27 (exit 44 east). Continue on Sunrise Highway for approximately 4.5 miles to Lakeland Avenue (exit 49). Turn right onto Lakeland Avenue and continue two miles until you reach the fourth light (Main Street, Sayville). Turn left then bear right; following the green and white "Fire Island Ferries" signs to the ferry terminal.

By Car from the East

Take the LI Expressway (495) or Sunrise Highway (Route 27) to Nicolls Road (Route 97) South to Blue Point. Take Nicolls Road approx. 5.5 miles to the 3rd light, which is Montauk Highway (Route 85). Turn right. After railroad overpass, make a left at the first light onto Foster Ave.  Follow the green and white "Fire Island Ferry" signs to the terminal.

Sailors Haven, Fire Island

By Boat

  • Follow the inner coastal buoys that run east to west along the middle of the Great South Bay until you reach #27 (N 40° 41.19’, W 073° 07.15’)
  • Then head towards the outside buoys to entrance of Sailors Haven channel marker (N40° 39.28’, W 073°.06.20’)
  • This should bring you directly into the marina.  We make no guarantees, but this is the safest route.
